About us

We fell in love with the Lakes after honeymooning in Grasmere over 26 years ago and have returned to fell walk and climb ever since (and for me to wait while Richard takes some wonderful photographs!). As art and music lovers, we spend a lot of time browsing the many galleries, and always look forward to visiting Zeffirellis restaurant for the amazing, world-class, live music evenings. We feel very privileged to share our beautiful Lakeland homes with new and seasoned visitors to this stunning part of the world, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

We took over Herdwick Cottage Ambleside in 2018 and fully refurbished it to create a warm and friendly 'home from home', whilst being sensitive to its traditional and rather humble origins. It is named after the hardy breed of sheep (Herdwicks) that populate the fells and were so beloved of Beatrix Potter, a passionate advocate and breeder of Herdwicks.

We have recently been lucky enough to take over Rydal which was purpose built in the grounds of the old Kirkstone Foot Hotel, and have loved creating a welcoming, comfortable and stylish place for you to rest and refresh (and walk 'till you drop if you wish to!).
